President’s Message

Doesn’t September feel like the start of a new year? Summer vacations are in the memory book. Kids of all ages are going back to school. And it’s time for Women Entrepreneurs of Wisconsin (WEW) to meet and gre
et at the Fox Cities Business Expo on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at the Tri County Arena from 10-6 pm.

WEW pays the cost of the booth space and provides the booth. The WEW presence helps attract new members and gives current members the opportunity to promote their businesses at the Expo. If you work in the booth there is no cost to you to display your information. A small fee is charged if you are unable to volunteer. A sign up sheet will be at the September. Available times are between 2-4pm and 4-6 pm. Also, did you know that you could borrow the booth for your own use? Contact the WE president if you are interested.

At our September 4 meeting we will tackle “Un-Learning for Leadership” as Janet Hagen of Pegasus Leadership Consultants will focus on our “beliefs” that stop us from excelling.

Business Profile - Specialty Prep Services

Specialty Prep Services was founded in April 2000. I think that when entrepreneurs dream about taking the leap there has to be many variables that line up in the right place at the right time. For me, it was about identifying a need my clients had and knowing that I could deliver above and beyond what their expectations were.

Having worked in the marketing research field for 20 years I understood the level of confidentiality involved in research projects. Often clients are looking to make a product modification, roll out a new design, or simply gather input from the field on existing product lines.

What Specialty Prep Services offers clients is preparation of instructional materials that accompany test products into the field. SPS provides proofing, copying, collating, laminating and assembly of all project materials. This includes data forms, guides, diagrams and instructions that are specific to each agency that is conducting the field tests. Basically your standard copy shop services, delivered with a high degree of confidentiality. The less exposure, the fewer sets of eyes, the more secure their projects are.

SPS contains my initials and I want my clients to know when I put my name on a project, it will be done right the first time. That’s my name going out the door…and that’s my business.

Having survived eight years is icing on the cake. As with most other entrepreneurs I’ve met, the one question that lingers is “why did I wait so long?” We all experience those ups & downs along the way, but you learn and grow from each of them and at the end of the day you give thanks for being in the driver’s seat.
